Mindanao and Northern Luzon Regional
Consultation Workshops for the
Development of the NAP EVAW 2025-2030
As of September 2024, four Regional Validation Workshops were completed with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as part of the Council’s development and finalization of the National Action Plan to End Violence Against Women (NAP EVAW) 2025-2030.
Three (3) of the four workshops were consecutively held in Mindanao and Northern Luzon from August to September 2024:
- Forty nine (49) representatives from Regions 9, 10, and CARAGA attended the first workshop on August 29 to 30, 2024 at the Seda Centrio Hotel
in Cagayan de Oro City;
- Forty eight (48) representatives from Regions 11, 12, and BARMM attended the second workshop held at the Apo View Hotel in Davao City,
from September 11 to 12, 2024, and;
- Forty seven (47) representatives from Regions 1, 2, 3, and CAR participated in the Luzon workshop on September 23 to 24, 2024
at The Plaza Lodge in Baguio City.
Similar to the Visayas Validation Workshop held in August 2024, the activities allowed stakeholders from government agencies and LGUs, MOVE chapters, NGOs,
and women’s rights organizations to present their recommendations on the NAP EVAW based on their experiences in implementing the Anti-VAWC Act as well as
other VAW-related laws. The inputs proved vital in ensuring that the national action plan is not only responsive to the needs of women, but also takes into account the obstacles faced by stakeholders in fully carrying out their mandated functions.
