The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), in partnership with the UNFPA, successfully conducted the first leg of the Regional Validation and Consultation Workshops for the Development of the National Action Plan to End Violence Against Women (NAPEVAW) in Mandaue City. The workshop was held on August 14-15, 2024 at the Bai Hotel and attended by representatives from various government agencies and women non-government organizations (NGOs) within Regions VI, VII, and VIII.

Assistant Regional Director Atty. Ian Kenneth Belmonte Lucero of DILG Regional Office VII delivered his message, followed by messages from former PCW Chairperson Dr. Rhodora Masilang-Bucoy and Ms. Michelle Chua, the National Program Officer for Gender/GBV Coordination of the UNFPA Philippines.

Ms. Manuela Silva, Consultant for the Development of the NAPEVAW, led the discussion during this workshop. The participants engaged in consecutive focus-group activities to discuss the elements of the NAPEVAW and share crucial inputs from each region.

The next leg of the consultation workshop for North Mindanao (Regions IX, X, and XIII) shall be held this August 29-30, 2024 at Cagayan De Oro City.
