The Inter-Agency Council on Violence Against Women and their Children (IACVAWC), together with the UP Law Center – Gender Law, Policy and Program (GLPP) convened with the Women’s Legal Bureau (WLB) and the Democratic Socialist Women of the Philippines (DSWP) on July 01 to July 02, 2024 at the Hive Hotel in Quezon City. The meeting was facilitated by the UP-GLPP, represented by Ms. Jelen Paclarin and Professor Leo D. Battad.

 

This two-day intensive writing workshop was convened following the directive of the Senate Committee Secretariat to the PCW and UP-GLPP to draft a unified bill for presentation at the 2nd Technical Working Group of the Senate Committee. The unified bill shall expand the scope and coverage of the bills amending R.A. 9262, specifically the House of Representatives Bill No. 8009 and Senate Bill 2293.

 

Through this meeting, representatives deliberated upon and harmonized the amendments proposed by PCW, with inputs from IACVAWC member-agencies, and the version developed by the UP-GLPP, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) WLB and DSWP.
